Lightning rod and grounding installations in Constanta: design, execution, verifications
Lightning does not choose. A building without a lightning rod or with a corroded grounding rod endangers people, equipment, and the ISU permit.

On the coast, summer storms bring electrical discharges, and the salty soil corrodes grounding plugs faster than in the rest of the country. The result: lightning which have nowhere to take the energy and electrical installations without real protection.
GreenSoft designs and installs lightning protection installations (IPT): interception devices, down conductors, earthing points, surge arresters in panels, plus equipotential bonding. We periodically check existing installations, measure the resistance of the earthing point and issue the required inspection reports.
The lightning rod installation also appears in the fire safety scenario, so we do it in correlation with the building's ISU documentation.

Frequently asked questions
How often is the lightning rod checked?
Annually, visually and by measuring the earth connection, and after any known discharge or roof work. On the coast we recommend checking the connection every 6-12 months, due to corrosion.
What value should the earthing socket have?
The standard requires different values for the lightning rod socket and for the electrical installation protection socket, generally below 10 ohms and below 4 ohms, respectively; we measure and record in the bulletin what you have and what you need.
Do the arresters in the switchboard replace the lightning rod?
No. Arrester protects equipment from surges; lightning rods protect the building and people. They are complementary and, for expensive equipment, we recommend both.
Do you issue ISU-accepted ballots?
Yes. Measurements are made by authorized personnel with calibrated equipment, and the reports are used in ISU files and ITM checks.
